There is something magical....

...about running while it is snowing.

Today is Sunday which means 30 minute recovery run is on the schedule. It started snowing big fluffy snowflakes while I was getting ready.

I left the house and although it was cold, it wasn't cooooold. I could get used to running in the windless cold. As I started running, I notice that the snow-covered streets and sidewalks were also icy. I knew that this would definitely be a slow(er) run for me. I had to watch my footing with every step.

I felt very energized and alive during my run. I ran with a smile on my face the entire time. I am sure I looked like a crazy person, haha. I noticed that I was the only person out exercising.

Today was also my first race for the 13 in 2013 challenge. I participated in the Tackle the Miles virtual race. I completed a 5k in 29:15. 1 race down, (at least) 12 to go.

Mile 1 - 10:10
Mile 2 - 9:10
Mile 3 - 8:58

Average pace - 9:26 min/mile

Negative splits seem to be my thing lately :)

I think it definitely takes a little bit of crazy/love to lace up and run in not so ideal conditions.

Happy Sunday!

Do you enjoy running in the snow?

  3. I really hate running in the cold weather, but do it anyhow b/c I hate the treadmill more. But I will admit that sometimes there is something a bit peaceful about running while the snow is coming down.

    1. I hate the treadmill too. I dread it every single time I have to use it.

  4. I think running in the snow is super hard. Like trail running - at least for me!

    1. Thankfully, this wasn't deep snow but it was pretty slick.
