A much better run.

Today was a fallback run. 6 miles to tackle with Team In Training. After last week's disastrous run, I was looking forward to this one.

I got out of bed and checked the weather. It was 39 degrees and felt like 39 degrees - woohoo HEAT WAVE!!! Runners are a strange breed...ha ha

I dressed accordingly, ate my breakfast and out the door I went....I didn't forget my Camelbak, either.

We ran down to the Lincoln Memorial, around it, headed back and then ran around the Capitol building. It was about 6 miles. My garmin said 5.84 miles but who's counting....

I really enjoy running around DC.

I ran much slower today. I needed to run but not RUN. This was more of a recovery run (for me) than a long run. I ran with Kerry and Sarah. The miles flew by since we chatted the whole time. Oh how I love running with other people!! I wasn't tired at all when we finished, which is definitely a good sign.

 5.84 miles in 58:34

Mile 1 - 10:09
Mile 2 - 9:41
Mile 3 - 9:54
Mile 4 - 10:15
Mile 5 - 10:24

Average pace - 10:02 min/mile

I didn't have any hip pain after my run - yay!! I guess not skipping yoga and foam rolling regularly really does help. Once again, I had to learn this the hard way.

Did you run or race this weekend? How did it go?

There's still time to enter my Chobani giveaway!

Please take a minute to read Austin's Story. Approximately every 4 minutes a person is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Every 10 minutes a person loses their battle. I am running 13.1 miles to help find a cure. Please donate to my fundraising page: http://pages.teamintraining.org/nca/rnrusa13/nattie1218

  1. Yay for no hip pain! It's been so long since I've run with no pain that I don't remember that feeling :(

    1. That was me all last year. Every run was painful but I ignored it. I hope you can have some pain-free running soon.

  2. Got to love it when the temperature actually feels like what it is outside! I've been doing more morning runs lately, and with the lack of wind I have been more comfortable. While the actual temp may be lower than what it would be at 2pm, without the wind I feel much warmer!

My run this Saturday was AMAZING. Seriously, 14 hours later I still feel good from it:
    Prescribed: Lactic Capacity: (WU) + (2400m progression from 7:00 to 6:30) + (EZ800m) + 4x (500m @ 105% - 108% 5k pace w/ 5:00 EZ) + CD
    Executed: 9 miles in 1:14:00 (8:13avg)

  5. 39 degrees is warm for me these days too! LOL...my CA friends don't even recognize me anymore.

Great run! It is good to slow down a bit. There are specific workouts to run fast, but your long runs should be somewhat relaxing, especially during a fallback week. Nice job.

  7. I ran 12 with my running buddy this morning. I love running with people, too! And yes, I've also learned the hard way about the foam roller and stretching. Glad the hip felt good!

  9. So great that you had a good run and didn't have any pain afterwards. I definitely think that foam rolling helps me! I didn't run over the weekend but did on Friday and Monday.
