HBBC week 1

I finished week 1 of the holiday booty buster challenge. So far I have a total of 30 points, not too bad for the first week.

My goal is to stay active during the holiday season since it is so easy to fall out of an exericse routine.

I don't think I am running nearly enough but I am trying my best. I have been doing my strength training twice a week and also cross-training, hopefully all of that will keep me conditioned.

Tape-free

I needed to run today, I mean I NEEDED it. So after we got home I laced up and ran out the door. I had to race against the setting sun and succeeded. I owned those 3 miles. Tonight was the first time in months that I didn't use any KT Tape on my calf. I feel great and so does my calf. I am really hoping that this injury is behind me.

100 push ups challenge

Apparently, I am not challenging myself enough because I have decided to try the 100 push ups in 6 weeks challenge.
If I stick to the training, I should be able to do 100 push ups by Christmas.

Last night I was able to do 21 good form push ups. Not too shabby if you ask me.

AHHHHH...

This morning I ran 2 miles PAIN FREE!!!

I am about 2 hours post run and haven't had any pain. It feels great to start fresh and brand new.

My new goal is to stay injury-free while training.

I need to figure out when to run during the week. I am thinking I can run during the day with the kids. However, my double jogger has a flat tire...hint hint Roy....

Woot woot

I was up at 5:30 this morning (and every morning) because my kids think it is fun to wake up super early. I dragged myself downstairs to get them some milk and coffee for me...yes, my coffee pot is set to brew at 5:30.

While I was walking through the dining room I noticed something...I wasn't limping! I cannot remember the last time I walked without limping. I am hoping that this is a sign that my calf injury is healed.

I think I will put it to the test on Sunday when I run an easy 2 miles.

Feels like a fresh start.

And I'm back...

I haven't worked out in a few weeks and decided today I would start back up again.
I did some strength training and also an hour on the elliptical. My So-Called Life was on and I was so into watching it that I didn't even realize that an hour had gone by.

The soreness is starting to set in but it's a good feeling. I haven't felt this sore since running my half. I am hoping to strength train twice a week, cross train 1-2 times a week and then run 2-3 times a week.

However, with the time change, I am not sure about running. I don't like running in the dark so I need to figure that one out. I am excited to lace up and run on Sunday.

Being sick...

sucks. Being sick really sucks when you have to take care of two little ones. However, since I have been sick, I haven't been able to workout, which also sucks.

Buuuuut my leg is feeling a lot better. I am hoping whenever I can get out and run I won't have any pain. The constant pain is annoying and frustrating. Hopefully, my torn muscle has healed and I can get back to my normal exercise routine.

Detox

I need to detox. Halloween candy is evil and for some reason I cannot say "NO". I haven't been exercising because I wanted to let my calf heal. However, that is not happening, the more I rest, the more it hurts. I am sure I will need to see my doc in the near future.

Compression socks are on the need-to-buy list. I am hoping they do the trick while running and post-run recovery. I need to get all of this figured out before Februray. My goal is to run the RnR half-marathon in St. Petes and then run the RnR National half-marathon one month later in DC.

In the meantime, I am going to get back to eating smart and exercising.
