Easing back into it

I have started using the elliptical again. I did 60 minutes yesterday. I was dragging towards the end but proud of myself for doing it. It helped that old 90210 episodes were on.

I still haven't tried running. My foot still hurts but I don't have that burning sensation anymore, so that is a good thing.

All I wanna do is run.

Well it's not fractured....

My foot that is. I do have a really bad strain/sprain. The x-rays really didn't show anything which makes diagnosing even harder.

Per my doctor, I am suppose to wear my running shoes since they offer the most support and if my foot doesn't feel any better, go back in 2 weeks. I am allowed to exercise (elliptical & videos) but no running, yet.

My other 2 treatment options are an injection or an immobilizer (think Robo Cop).

I am still not sure if I will be able to run that 10K at the end of March.

A setback....

Back in December, I hurt the top of my foot. I cannot remember how I did it exactly but it hurts to put full weight on it. For example, when I step over the baby gate and put my left foot down first, it feels like my foot is going to crack.

I am stubborn and didn't think too much of it and continued to do regular activites, exercise, etc. As a stay-at-home Mom, I don't have time to get sick or injured.

Since I have started exercising more and running, my foot has hurt a little more. I decided I was going to run a 10k at the end of March and decided that I should get my foot checked out first. I am afraid it is fractured on top. My personal diagnosis is a cuneiform fracture with a metatarsal injury association.

I have an appointment on the 21st and hopefully I can make it til then. My foot is killing me today. It is throbbing and really hurts to walk.

I was so geeked up to run this race and now I am not sure if I will be able to. Damn.

Things are looking up....

Miguel has been fever-free for almost 24 hours. His appetite and liquid intake is almost back to normal too. I was beyond thrilled to see my little man laughing and smiling today.

The downside....Miguel is on Amoxicillin for 10 days. We are on day 4 and the antibiotic diarrhea has started. It is beyond nasty and I will have to definitely sun my cloth diapers once we are past the diarrhea.

That was our exciting day, lol.

It never gets easier

Being a second time Mommy, you would think that I could handle mostly anything. Miguel has had a cold for the last week. Last night, he spiked a nasty fever - 103.9 (taken rectally). I gave him some Motrin and ran to Bloom and bought some Tylenol. The Motrin wasn't bringing his fever down so my Mom and I took him to the ER.

He has an ear infection on top of his cold. He was given Amoxicillin and we were out of there in 2 hours. This morning his fever spiked again and now he is currently napping on our bed.

It is never easy when your kids get sick. It breaks my heart seeing my baby in pain and upset. I will take him to our pediatrician Monday or Tuesday to recheck his ears and make sure the antibiotics are working.
